ABASANJO VERSES INDIAN ASTRONOMER

In a bid to know the exact date of his birth, the former pragmatic President of Nigeria traveled to India to consult an astronomer concerning the actual date he was born. (Information from Online Source)

He was quoted to have said while speaking in Abeokuta at the 2017 international Youth Variety Day and Public Presentation of Volume One of Olusegun Obasanjo’s Books for Children.

He stated that, 1937 might not be the exact date of his birth but was convinced that he was born around that year considering the age of his childhood friends.

The former president insisted that he was born in 1937 on Ifo market day in Ogun Sate. When he was tender in age he had made efforts to be sure of his real age following the question he had once asked his mother demanding to know his exact age, but to his disappointment all he could lay hands on from his mother was that he was born on Ifo market day and nothing more.

His quest to India was futile as the astronomer could not dictate as he thought the exact date of his birth. The Indian astronomer only told him that he will have longevity of life. Be it as it may the former president on his own, had chosen and accepted a particular date as his birth day.
