DRAINAGE TURNING “WASTE BIN”

A habit had long been formed that is highly detrimental to the health condition of the same perpetuators of the dreadful act.
Our drainage system is fast turning another, “Waste Bin,” as settlers of Enugu and many other unmentioned  parts of Nigeria now dumps their refuse/waste into drainages. This is mostly practiced during rainy season. In Enugu, one can see people supposed to have received some level of education behaving like illiterates/uninformed people by emptying their waste materials into the drainage systems expecting the running water in the drainage to carry them away. But they failed to reason and call to mind the dangers of such practices. Those waste dumped in the drainage and carried away by running water shall find it way and stop wherever the force of the water weakens.

This act leads to dirty environment and brings about multiplications of mosquitoes and other insects that are enemies to human health.
Let’s think wisely and behave like human beings God had created us to be and not like animals that feeds on grasses.
I hereby encourage the government to look into this matter and use the appropriate agency to enforce actions that will curtail these practices before it grows beyond control.
