LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT DENIES INVOLVEMENT IN DEMOLITION OF PROPERTY LINKED TO PETER OBI'S BROTHER

The Lagos State Government has denied involvement in the demolition of a property reportedly owned by the brother of Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi. The government claims the allegations are "unverified" and "misleading". Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, stated that the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and other state agencies were not involved in the demolition. An investigation has been ordered to clarify the circumstances surrounding the demolition .

It's worth noting that the Lagos State Government has been actively involved in demolition exercises in the past, particularly for structures built on drainage channels or flood plains. For instance, in October 2023, the government demolished several luxury houses in the Lekki Phase II and Ikota areas, citing the need to restore sanity to the environment and prevent flooding. However, in this specific case, the government maintains that it was not involved in the demolition.
