THE PLACE OF INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY IN SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION

The world is fast changing. Sophisticated innovations and inventions have taken over the technological world. The application of Information Communication Technology in daily life affairs has become inevitable. Following the necessity of this emerged trend, it wouldn’t be a gain saying that it had become a MUST KNOW. The truthfulness of this fact needs not to be compromised; hence government should provide necessary facilities in schools so that students can be thought ICT, in theory and in practical. Private schools should endeavour to have well equipped computer laboratory and an experienced computer practical teacher.
Computer studies and Data processing should be considered very important as Mathematics and English language because there is no field that doesn’t apply ICT in the daily running of their activities.

It is obvious that ICT, is recently carrying all other professions as a baby, because it provides an efficient platform, making easy for professionals in other fields to carry-out their assignments. Hence ICT had succeeded in cutting across all fields of human endeavour. Thus, the Nigerian government and some individuals are yet to understand this. If the government is aware of this, they should have made ICT a compulsory subject in secondary schools to better prepare the students to face the technological world.
When students are properly trained they can be self reliant financially when they are out of the secondary school by securing a job or rather opening a business center to practice the skill they had acquired while in school.
ICT shouldn’t be neglected; it should be giving a higher priority because of its usefulness. The government should think about this………..
