A FLORIDA MAN, DAVID PITTMAN, 63, IS SCHEDULED TO BE EXECUTED BY LETHAL INJECTION
A Florida man, David Pittman, 63, is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection for the brutal murders of his wife's sister and her parents in 1990. Pittman was sentenced to death in 1991 for the triple homicide, which involved the stabbing deaths of Bonnie Knowles, 21, and her parents, Clarence Knowles, 60, and Barbara Knowles, 50, followed by setting their home on fire.
Pittman's lawyers have
made a last-ditch effort to save his life, arguing that he is intellectually
disabled with an IQ score in the low 70s, which would make him ineligible for
execution. However, their appeals have been denied.
The execution is set to
take place at 6:00 pm (2200 GMT) at the Florida State Prison. If carried out,
Pittman's execution will be the 12th in Florida this year and the 31st in the
United States
