POPE LEO XIV CANONIZED TWO YOUNG MEN, CARLO ACUTIS AND PIER GIORGIO FRASSATI, AS SAINTS ON SEPTEMBER 7 IN A HISTORIC CEREMONY AT ST. PETER'S SQUARE IN THE VATICAN.

The Vatican has officially established feast days for two newly canonized saints, Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati. St. Carlo Acutis' feast day will be celebrated on October 12, coinciding with the anniversary of his death from leukemia at the age of 15. On the other hand, St. Pier Giorgio Frassati's feast day will be commemorated on July 4, marking the day of his death in 1925.

Both saints were canonized by Pope Leo XIV on September 7, 2025, in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican. Carlo Acutis, known for his devotion to the Eucharist and his use of digital media for evangelization, became the first millennial saint in Catholic history. Pier Giorgio Frassati, affectionately called the "man of the Beatitudes," was a young Italian mountaineer and student who dedicated his life to serving the poor.
