A Russian passenger plane, carrying no passengers but three crew members, crashed near Moscow, resulting in the tragic death of all three crew members on board
On Friday, a Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane, operated by Gazprom Avia, crashed near Moscow, killing all three crew members on board. The plane, which had been repaired at a manufacturing plant in Lukhovitsy, was en route to Vnukovo Airport when it went down. The Investigative Committee has launched an investigation into the incident.
The Russian-made Superjet 100, which entered service in 2011, has had a history of safety issues, including a 2012 crash in Indonesia that killed 45 people and a 2019 crash at Sheremetyevo airport that killed 41.
The causes of those crashes were attributed to pilot error and ignoring terrain warnings.
