COURT HAS REINSTATED PHILIP SHUAIBU AS THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF EDO STATE, REVERSING A PREVIOUS DECISION THAT REMOVED HIM FROM OFFICE

The Federal High Court in Abuja has quashed the impeachment of the Deputy Governor, deeming it a violation of the constitution and the law. The court's ruling declared the impeachment null and void, citing contraventions of sections 188 and 35 of the constitution. Furthermore, the court mandated the restoration of the Deputy Governor's remuneration and benefits from April 8th, when the unlawful impeachment occurred, until the conclusion of his term. The court also issued an injunction prohibiting Governor Godwin Obaseki and the State House of Assembly from obstructing the Deputy Governor's performance of his duties.
